Sowing, Sharing, Supporting Local Food

Alton Local Food Initiative encourages and enables people in our local community to be involved in growing, sourcing and eating local, seasonal and responsibly produced food.

ALFI manages several plots in Alton, where volunteers help grow a variety of fruit, vegetables, and herbs, which are distributed free to the public. There are monthly working parties on each plot throughout the growing season, usually on Sunday mornings.

Every year we chose a theme that we cover in detail in the newsletters and which guides our involvement with schools.

For 2025 we are going to focus on “Soil Improvement”.
