ALFI has been fortunate from its beginning to receive support –
financial and practical – from the local community, businesses and council.

2010 £200 Materials, plants and seeds to set up our first plots and planters.
2012 £200 Purchase and planting of 5 fruit trees at Jubilee Fields and purchase of other fruit trees for our plots.
2013 £200 Containers and seeds to share with local schools’
gardening clubs and containers for our plots.
2014 £300 Creation of new soft fruit plot at the St Lawrence
Vicarage front garden.
2015 Posts and mounting costs for 10 generic signs for all our
plots and planters.
Alton Town Council grants
We have received support from ATC councillors on numerous occasions over the years, including stalls at ATC events and councillor grants.
2021 Grant for fruit trees planted in new Barley Fields Orchard.
2014 £250 Raised beds at the Station plot and Westbrooke plot
2014 £550 Materials for weatherproof signs for our 10 plots and
planters around the town (Andrew Joy).
2022 Supporting the new BT plot near the Waitrose store.
2014 £437 10 new fruit trees at Jubilee Fields, with stakes
and planting materials.

Every year since our foundation we have had gold, silver gilt or silver awards from Alton in Bloom for our plots, unusual container at the Station plot, and the orchard at Jubilee Field.
In addition in 2014, they awarded ALFI the John Smith Trophy for ‘Outstanding contribution to the In Bloom effort’.
2014 South and South East in Bloom – Certificate of Excellence for our Community Gardens.
2014 Alton Charities Together – Outstanding achievement of the year to Steve Dearing for his work with ALFI and Anstey School.
